'2025 Pyeongtaek Port Forum' and 'Pyeongtaek Port Citizen Participation Forum' to be Held Consecutively

At this forum and discussion, strategies for establishing green shipping lanes in response to the emergence of eco-friendly vessels, analysis of PR academy outcomes, and import-export strategies utilizing Pyeongtaek Port as a land bridge will be discussed.
First, the '2025 Gyeonggi Province Pyeongtaek Port Forum' hosted by Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority at the Seoul Trade Exhibition & Convention Center on the 28th was planned to strengthen Pyeongtaek Port's position as an eco-friendly port and enhance its global competitiveness by identifying strategic objectives for the transition to an eco-friendly port.
Following theme presentations on Pyeongtaek Port's green shipping lane strategy toward carbon neutrality, overseas cases of eco-friendly ports, hydrogen carrier ship and hydrogen-powered ship development status for Pyeongtaek Port's hydrogen port, eco-friendly fuel conversion strategies of shipping companies, and Pyeongtaek Port's decarbonization promotion strategy utilizing hydrogen energy, comprehensive discussions will follow. The forum is attracting attention as it is being held after Gyeonggi Province recently announced plans to establish Pyeongtaek as a hydrogen industry hub in the Seoul metropolitan area.
The 'Citizen Participation Forum for Pyeongtaek Port Development' hosted by the Pyeongtaek-Dangjin Port Development Council at Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation on the 30th will feature seven participants including journalists, professors, Pyeongtaek Studies Institute researchers, provincial assembly members, and city assembly members to discuss the outcomes of the four-year Pyeongtaek Port PR academy and strategies for Pyeongtaek Port development.
In particular, discussions are expected to focus on the directionality of cargo flow connecting Japan to Europe through Pyeongtaek Port as a land bridge and the relocation of the Uiwang inland container terminal near Pyeongtaek Port. A land bridge is currently being researched by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and is a method to dramatically shorten cargo transport time by converting long-distance sea routes into short-distance sea routes plus short-distance inland routes.
Additionally, discussions will be held on the prospects of Pyeongtaek Port, which ranks first in automobile cargo volume, methods to increase marine tourism through car ferry utilization, creation of hinterland zones, waterfront area development and port facility improvement measures, with panel members expected to proceed with dynamic question-and-answer sessions.
