Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) is recruiting participants for the '1st Yongin Special City Baekoksal Baking Masters Championship' (hereinafter, the competition) until September 18.

The competition, under the theme of 'Baking the New Possibilities of Baekoksal,' will be hosted and organized by the Yongin City Agricultural Technology Center (hereinafter, the center) and supported and sponsored by the Yongin Branch of the Korea Bakery and Confectionery Association.

Participants will develop bakery and confectionery products with marketability, popularity, and creativity using 'baekoksal flour' provided by the city and submit them to the center.

The city will also support material costs of up to 100,000 won per person for product development and official competition submission. Eligible participants include representatives or employees of bakery, confectionery, and dessert businesses operating in Yongin.

Participants may compete even if their registered residential address is not in Yongin, as long as their business location is in Yongin. Application forms must be submitted via email (anhyukjin@korea.kr) by 6 p.m. on September 18 or submitted in person at the Yongin City Agricultural Technology Center.

The city plans to select approximately 20 finalists through document screening. Finalists will compete on the 29th at the convention hall on the 3rd floor of City Hall.

The city plans to select one winner each for the Grand Prize (CHAMPION), Excellence Award, and Merit Award. The awards ceremony will take place on October 4 at the venue of the '2026 Yongin Special City Joa Yong Food Festival' held at Yongin Mir Stadium. The grand prize winner will receive a champion jacket, championship flag, trophy, and certificate.

A city official stated, "This competition is an attempt to expand baekoksal, a representative agricultural product of Yongin, as a competitive bakery and confectionery industry material," and added, "We hope various products that highlight the characteristics of baekoksal will emerge, and we look forward to the birth of new products that can represent Yongin in the future. We welcome keen interest and participation from skilled bakery and confectionery professionals in the region."
