The Suwon Office of Education (Director Kim Hye-ri) operated the '2026 Suwon Eco Job Day' under the theme of 'Breaking Barriers! Exploring Careers in the Environment and Designing Your Future' at the Suwon City Hall Main Conference Room for two days starting from the 18th.

This event was launched based on the 'wall-breaking education policy' that connects diverse educational stakeholders from the private sector, government, industry, and academia across school and community boundaries, linking environmental education with career education and connecting regional educational and environmental resources to student and youth learning and development.

In particular, with co-sponsorship by the Suwon Office of Education and Suwon City, and collaboration from the Korea Meteorological Administration Gyeonggi-Incheon Regional Office, Samsung Electronics, Kyonggi University, and the Suwon Environmental Education Network, public institutions, local governments, enterprises, universities, and environmental organizations connected their expertise to the educational arena.

Approximately 120 elementary, middle, high school students, college students, and youth participated in the event. Participants met with environmental professionals from various fields, including education supervisors overseeing environmental policy, environmental civil servants, environmental activist groups, Samsung Electronics environmental department staff, professors in environmental-related disciplines, and Korea Meteorological Administration officials, exploring the roles of these professions, required competencies, and practical solutions for environmental problems.

Through this, participants were able to directly experience various environmental career paths and career information that would be difficult to access within schools in the community setting. Additionally, participants connected their understanding of environmental issues to the actual professional world and spent time specifically exploring career paths suited to their interests and aptitudes.

Kim Hye-ri, Director of the Suwon Office of Education, stated, "The Suwon Eco Job Day is a practical example of wall-breaking education that breaks down barriers between schools and the community and connects the expertise of various institutions, enterprises, universities, and environmental organizations, including Suwon City, to the educational arena." She added, "When diverse local stakeholders participate together, students' learning can expand beyond school. Going forward, we will continue to actively collaborate with the community to expand educational opportunities for students to explore both the environment and careers while designing their future."

The Suwon Office of Education plans to continue promoting region-based future education centered on the 'wall-breaking education policy,' breaking down barriers between schools and the community, expanding private-public-industry-academia collaboration, and connecting regional educational, environmental, industrial, and university resources to curricula and career education, thereby supporting students' lives and futures.
