Suwon Office of Education Acquires RAS Cultural and Arts Resources at Hot Spot Haenggung-dong
The Suwon Office of Education (Director Kim Hye-ri) operated RAS capacity-building training called 'Midnight Live Salon' for secondary school teachers on the 22nd in the Haenggung-dong area of Suwon, a hot spot overflowing with culture and romance.
This training was designed to enhance teachers' understanding of RAS education and practical competency in cultural and arts education. The goal is to substantially connect cultural and arts resources flourishing in the region with school education.
The training proceeded with programs utilizing diverse senses and movements tailored to the characteristics of each space, including gallery cafes, libraries, and outdoor lawns, drawing the interest of participating teachers.
Key programs included ▲Solo performance 「About Yoyo」 connecting storytelling, performance, and physical movement ▲Reading meditation 「A Moment Lingering on Sentences」 utilizing sentences from books and singing bowls ▲「The Boy Who Loved Music」 sharing music and personal memories ▲「Between Tilting and Leaning」 experiencing physical movement and interaction.
Teachers directly experienced cultural and arts activities utilizing diverse senses, understood the meaning of RAS education, and gained the ability to apply it to school curricula and student educational activities.
Building on this training, the Suwon Office of Education decided to expand educational connections between schools and the community through 'breaking barriers' and strengthen the foundation for cultural and arts spaces and artists in the region to participate in school education.
Kim Hye-ri, Director of the Suwon Office of Education, said, "Through breaking barriers to remove boundaries between schools and the community, we will actively support the practice and expansion of RAS education in schools so that diverse cultural and arts resources in the region can lead to students' learning."
